Empuriabrava (23 kilometers of canals) and Roses (12 kilometers of canals) together represent the largest residential marina in Europe with 35 kilometers of canals. Do the moorings accept any kind of boat?
The marina of Roses, offers multiple mooring possibilities that can accommodate scooters, sailboats and up to around 26 meters and as there are no bridges, with a depth of 3 meters in fresh water all sailboats and boats with large draught can stay there.
The following elements are necessary to choose the right mooring line: length, width, depth below waterline of the boat, as well as the capacity and experience of the person(s) who will be maneuvering. The general rule is to add 1/3 of the boat size to be able to maneuver in good conditions. However, this rule is little applied with newer boats that are equipped to moor on a smaller mooring.
What is the market for Rosas?
In Roses, there are currently around 1600 moorings from 2 to 26 meters (of which 543 in the port from 6 to 20 meters). There are many transactions and rental requests during the year, especially as the summer season approaches.
The Rosas Marina has no bridges and is 3 meters deep, which allows all types of boats (including sailing boats) with a large draught to access it and the fresh water reduces the harmful effect of the salt.

Which ports/marina are neighbors and competitors of Rosas?
The main competition will be on Empuriabrava, the Venice of Spain, but the canals are limited by bridges which limit the size of the boats and in particular the sailboats. There are many ports and marina's in the surrounding area but none with the characteristics of Roses Santa Margarita. A real boater's dream!!
Moreover the geographical location places the marina in one of the most beautiful bays in the world according to National Geographic and with a view of the Pyrenees that penetrate into the sea until the French border. At sea and only 4 nautical miles to the north is Cap de Creus - a natural park with wild creeks with turquoise and crystal clear waters, Cadaques and to the south a steep coast with cliffs and caves, near the Medes Islands, a paradise for divers on the Costa Brava.
What kind of properties have moorings?

The market is active all year round for winterization and a rebound in activity as the good weather approaches. The moorings in full ownership in the Marina are of the order of 20.000 to + 200.000 euros. Opportunities to build with a mooring?
You can still find some small plots with mooring(s) to build a house, but they are very rare. There are still some very rare plots of land for investors to build a large complex with moorings.
