Buying a hotel on the Costa Brava

While the northern part of this coastal region is decidedly touristy, the southern part has a wild charm that does not leave anyone indifferent. The Costa Brava is an essential tourist destination and more and more investors are setting up there. On average, the price of a hotel is around 3.7 million euros, with a price per square metre of around 1,230 euros.

Rosas

This municipality is located in front of the Bay of Rosas, which has been ranked among the 30 most beautiful bays in the world since 2011. Rosas has a great microclimate, and the sun is present almost all year round. The heat is mitigated by the tramontana wind coming from the coast, and you can enjoy warm days and cool evenings. This makes it a particularly interesting location for a hotel.

Its fauna and flora are rich. It has several coves and is surrounded by numerous natural parks. These include Aiguamolls de l'Empordà, Cap Creux and Montgri. This destination will attract tourists in search of nature and authenticity.

Together with Empuriabrava, it forms the largest residential marina in Europe, with 45 km of beaches, 15 km of coves and 50 km of waterways. Tourists appreciate the high quality of life, the many activities on offer and the modern hotel infrastructure.

Empuriabrava

Empuriabrava, 40 km from the French border, is a seaside resort and an important tourist centre in the municipality of Castelló d'Empúries. It is ideally located in the bay of Rosas, near Figueras, 60 km from Girona-Costa Brava airport and 150 km from Barcelona. With 30 km of navigable canals, it is also one of the largest residential marinas. The presence of the yacht industry indicates that some of the clientele is looking for high standard accommodation such as luxury hotels.

Empuriabrava is a town close to the French border and is a great choice for buying a hotel. It offers a very good quality of life, an interesting tax system and there is a significant number of French speaking expatriates.

Cadaques

This small fishing village of the Alt Empordà is located in the north of the Costa Brava, on the Cap de Creus peninsula. Its economy is based on tourism, and it has a charming atmosphere. It has attracted many artists, including Salvador Dali, who settled here in 1930. His houses have been transformed into a museum, the Casa-Museo Salvador Dali, a real tourist attraction.

Cadaques stands out from other Costa Brava destinations because of its natural environment, which is still predominant, and its unique architecture. The village is mainly for pedestrians and its centre is not accessible by car. The acquisition of a hotel in this Costa Brava village promises a steady influx of guests looking for local accommodation to enjoy the tranquillity of this Spanish municipality.

Playa de Aro

This old fishing village, between Palamós and Sant Feliu de Guixols, is located on a 2 km long beach. Playa de Aro is 40 km from Girona, 100 km from France and 100 km from Barcelona. It has a beautiful landscape and its coves are among the most beautiful on the Costa Brava.

Playa de Aro is busy every day of the year and has a wide range of activities open all year round. With shops, amusement parks, restaurants and health and wellness centres, there is plenty to keep tourists, visitors and locals busy. Tourists and newcomers are always very welcome. There are many French speakers. The cost of living is moderate compared to other European countries, which makes it attractive.

The cultural life will keep visitors and tourists busy during the day, with visits to the doll museum (Museu de la nina) or the medieval town of Castell d'Aro for example. In February, Playa de Aro hosts its own festival, a colourful event not to be missed. As elsewhere on the Costa Brava, the most popular months for tourism are March, April and especially May.

Lloret de Mar

Lloret de Mar (La Selva), an old fishing village, is 80 km from Barcelona airport and 30 km from Girona airport. Tourists enjoy its Mediterranean climate and temperatures that often exceed 30°C. They invest in its many outdoor food shops to enjoy these pleasant conditions.

In this city of both business and pleasure, buying a hotel allows you to take advantage of a diverse clientele, with people coming for business and a significant number of tourists. Lloret de Mar, certified as a family destination, also attracts families with children who often come across a very different category of tourists: the 18 to 30 year olds. They are particularly attracted by the town's nightlife.

March, April and especially May are Lloret de Mar's peak season and hotel rates often rise during this period. Although temperatures remain moderate (above 10°C) from September to February, tourism is at its lowest.

Tossa de Mar

Tossa de Mar is located in the south of the Costa Brava, in the municipality of La Selva. It is located about 100 km from Barcelona to the north and the French border to the south. Its picturesque historic village and medieval walls contrast with a more modern and touristy extension. Among its attractions are, for example, the Castillo de Tossa del Mar or its numerous beaches, such as Cala Futadera or Platja del Racó.

The weather is particularly mild from April to November, although temperatures are pleasant all year round, except in winter. May is the busiest month for tourists to visit Tossa de Mar, followed by March and April. Hotels generally charge higher rates during this period.
